@newsheep: Why is MRI cancelled? Is the hospital infected? I work for a hospital not too far from there and it is continuing to operate, we have infectious disease protocols.
To clarify our mass outbreak protocol here in the US: All of our hospitals have huge corridors (if you ever wonder about all the empty space in US hospitals, that's what they're for) and thousands of various types of beds and supplies in the basement with the necessary technology and plastic sheet barriers. In case of a mass outbreak, we simply pack out the supplies. Currently we are screening people at the entrance of the hospital parking and making people that show any symptoms (primarily fever) go to another entrance.
The primary problem will be 3 months down the road - if China makes true on its threat to block supplies to the US, our hospital systems will start to run out of supplies for current care levels and start to ration certain supplies. The US, since the end of the cold war, has given up on production independence, that's about to change.
